Searching for Clues
48" x 48" |
The creation of a painting is a process of discovery. Part of my artistic search is to create images and symbols that touch on events or memories that linger somewhere in the darkness, to bring them forward into the light. I often cloak marks with transparent, fluid layers to symbolize the passage of time, and to create surfaces that are complex and mysterious. My process is intuitive and personal; the images have significance for me and touch the universal.
Colors, textures and forms evolve to express emotions and psychological states, to attempt to make sense of our complex world.
This internal/external unfolding calls for faith and tolerance for being in unknown territory. This may bring lasting satisfaction or only an instant of clarity, yet fulfills part of my purpose in being an artist.
